Looking for a Special Dinner for Your Valentine?

Before we get into Valentine’s Day stuff, a couple places I called about Valentine’s Day asked me to tell you about their Mardi Gras festivities.  Dockside Grill in West Covina (626) 915-FISH (3474) will be celebrating Fat Tuesday on February 8^th, with tequila and margarita specials, 99 cent fish tacos and oyster shooters and live entertainment by Double Shot.  Frank and Joe’s Southern Smokehouse in Monrovia, (626) 357-1616, is also celebrating Mardi Gras, but on Saturday, February 5^th.  They’ll have live music, fun and games, a deejay and live bands, pre-sale tickets are $15, or $40 if you want the all-you-can-eat buffet.  Ticket prices will be higher at the door.

Okay, on to Valentine’s Day – one of the busiest days of the year for many restaurants.  Most places highly recommend reservations, and a few of the following told me that they are almost sold out, so be sure to call and make your reservations early.  All of these restaurants have their regular menus on the sangabrielvalleymenus.com website (you will NOT find the special menus there, though, so call for details) and many of them have reviews on the website.  As usual, menus and prices are subject to change without notice, items subject to availability. 

Beckham Grill, 77 W. Walnut, Pasadena (626) 796-3399 - Special menu with your choice of 7 entrees, priced from $23.95.  Choices include Prime Rib, Halibut, Roast Tenderloin of Beef, Shrimp Scampi and others.  Meals come with choice of lobster bisque, French onion soup, or the house English Stlton Salad.  There will also be a special dessert menu.

Bella Italia, 7232 N. Rosemead Blvd., San Gabriel (626) 287-5674 – will be celebrating Valentine’s Day all weekend long with their complete regular menu.

Bella Sera Trattoria, 422 S. Myrtle Ave., Monrovia (626) 359-1399 – Usually closed on Mondays, they will be open with a condensed version of their menu. Will have special Valentine menu items all weekend long.

Café Mundial, 516 S. Myrtle Ave., Monrovia (626) 303-2233 – Special four-course menu (you’ll find this special menu at www.cafemundial.net), special wine list.

Charlie’s Trio, 47 W. Main St., Alhambra (626) 284-4943 – Complimentary champagne for couples all weekend long, additional specials, call for details

Dino’s Italian Inn, 2055 E. Colorado Blvd., Pasadena (626) 449-8823 – Will celebrate by preparing their entire menu of more than 70 entrees, including filet mignon.

Dockside Grill, 3057 E. Garvey Ave., West Covina (626) 915-FISH (3474) – Special menu, including the “Dockside Loveboat” for two for just $54.50, features prime rib, deep fried scallops, slipper lobsters, 2 sides and 1 big dessert.

Frank and Dean’s Restaurant and Supper Club, 3768 E. Colorado Blvd., Pasadena (626) 793-1847 – Celebrating romance on the 12^th, 13^th, and 14^th, with a special menu, live music and dancing.  Saturday night will feature a tribute to Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and Jerry Lewis, cover charge is $20, watch the show and enjoy dinner (not included in cover).

Frank and Joe’s Southern Smokehouse, 110 E. Colorado Blvd., Monrovia (626) 357-1616 – Set dinner menu includes appetizer choices Scampi, crawfish Risetto Cake or Sweet Corn Nuggets), soup (Cajun Gumbo or Crawfish Corn Chowder)and salad, choice of 4 entrees (Flat Iron Steak, Crab Cakes, Juicy Pork Chop or Rosemary Chicke, all served with sautéed veggies and rice pilaf, and choice of 4 desserts (Black Berry Cheese Cake, Chocolate Mousse, Bread Pudding or Praline Cheese Cake). 

Giovanni’s International Restaurant, 143 N. Citrus Ave., Covina (626) 332-9539 – Will be open Sunday, 4:30 to 8:30pm, Monday 5 to 10pm.  Monday night will feature a Special Valentine’s fixed meal with several entrée choices, price range $29.95 to $39.95.

La Parisienne, 1101 E. Huntington Dr., Monrovia (626) 357-3359 – Featuring a 5-course set menu for $75/person.

Los Gueros Grill, 45 N. San Gabriel Blvd., Pasadena (626) 683-9421 – Celebrating all weekend long, $19.95 per person gets you fresh guacamole made tableside, choice of any two entrees from Carne Asada Cabral Style, Chicken Monterrey and Enchilada Del Mar, with chocolate covered strawberries for dessert.

Matt Denny’s Alehouse Restaurant, 145 E. Huntington Dr., Arcadia (626) 446-1077– Celebrating Friday through Monday with complimentary champagne for couples from 5pm till the kitchen closes, special menu items including Shrimp Cocktail, petite Filet Mignon, Prime Rib, Chilean Sea Bass, and specialty desserts.

Michael’s Steakhouse, 70 S. Raymond Ave. Pasadena (626) 792-3731 – Set prix fixe menu, $85 per person

Possemato’s Fine Italian Cuisine, 1212 S. Baldwin Ave., Arcadia (626) 446-4427 – Normally closed Mondays, will be open with their regular menu.

Reed’s Seafood Grill and Broiler, 2451 Foothill Blvd., Ste. D, La Verne (909) 593-1040 – Celebrating with a 3-course meal for two for just $55.95, choice of Grilled Mesquite Chicken, Salmon, Lobster Tail, Angus Beef or Flat Iron Steak, fresh home baked bread, house salad, potatoes or rice pilaf, and a bottle of sparkling cider (no liquor license here)

Villa Italia, 1028 Huntington Dr., Duarte (626) 357-3938 – Featuring a special menu and “something special for the lady” all weekend long.
